Course Sequence

 Nutrition/wellness & Principles of Food Prep - Intro to food and Basic food knowledge. NRFSP industry cert opportunity

Culinary 1  -  Introduction to Hospitality and tourism. Beginning basics. ServSafe/NRFSP industry cert opportunity

Culinary 2 -  Begin to explore techniques and flavors. ServSafe/NRFSP industry cert opportunity, Skills USA opportunity

Culinary 3/4 -  Most hands-on of all the culinary courses. Students will be given the opportunity to acquire real life skills in management and customer service as well as commercial food prep. Collaboration with Marketing Academy classes as students will prepare and cook items sold in the Cat Shack (student store)  to be blocked together. SkillsUSA opportunity 

Hospitality/Tourism OJT - Students earn school credit by working in industry related jobs either on or off campus. 

*Gold Seal and Bright Futures scholarships available to qualifying students

*Students are asked to provide a folder dedicated to Culinary, as well as wear closed-toe shoes on lab/cooking days.

Overview

This program offers a sequence of courses that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in the Hospitality & Tourism career cluster; provides technical skill proficiency, and includes competency-based applied learning that contributes to the academic knowledge, higher-order reasoning and problem-solving skills, work attitudes, general employability skills, technical skills, and occupation-specific skills, and knowledge of all aspects of the Hospitality & Tourism career cluster.
